FRITZ TEUFEL FREED

Fritz Teufel, the 24-year-old student tried for "sedition" because he allegedly threw a stone at a cop during a demonstration against the shah of Iran last June, was freed by a West Berlin court December 1. More than 1,000 students staged a demonstration against the trial on November 24. The judge gave as his reason for freeing Teufel that he had already been held in prison for longer than he would have been sentenced if found guilty.
