Hanoi continues to report rising desertions among the armed forces of the puppet Saigon regime. Two revolts were cited in the November 7 news release of the Hsinhua News Agency. One occurred October 5 among the troops stationed in Chau Thanh; the second on October 16 in Ong Tong. "Taking coordinate action with the Liberation Armed Forces," Hsinhua declared, "they wiped out an entire enemy platoon, killed and captured two dozen troops and captured large quantities of arms and military equipment."

In the first nine months of this year, there were 36 similar cases in Tan An and Cholon provinces. "The growing scale of insurrections has caused a grave shortage of manpower in many puppet units."
