MONTREAL -- A significant step. forward for the Québec left was taken here recently with the formation of the Ligue: Socialiste Ouvriére (Socialist Workers! League).
The Ligue Socialiste Ouvriére is a disciplined group of revo~ lutionary socialists who, basing their action on the accumulated: experience of the international working-class movement, and the theory elaborated notably by Marx, Engels, Lenin and Trotsky, believe that they have an unique and important contribution to make to the formation of a party which will lead the Québec workers and farmers to a socialist revolution, It holds that the French-Canadian nation must be free to establish its own road toward socialism,
The Ligue maintains the closest fraternal relations with the. League. for Socialist Action in English-Canada, and cothinkers around the :world, such as: the Socialist Workers. party in the ‘United States.
The ‘Ligue ‘Socitaliste Ouvriare plans: to commence publication in the near future of a public information bulletin, La Lutte Ouvridre, which will present its position on contemporary Québec and Tnternational developments.

NEW TURN IN ALLEN CASE
According to a report: in the October 19. London Times, Dr. Victor Leonard Allen, who is on trial in Lagos, Nigeria, on ’ charges of "sedition," sought . to escape from the country and was captured by. the police. : . ee . °
- Dr. Allen is.a Leeds. University - lecturer who was studying in . the country at: the time of his arrest. [See World Outlook October 9.]
on October 9, F. Wickliffe, the chief magistrate in the case, reserved judgment until November 10 and released Dre Allen and three other defendants on bail.
‘The. police claimed that Dr.
