ZAMBIA: A RECTIFICATION At the time the article "Zambia: Kaunda Clique Faces Growing Isolation" (INPRECOR, No. 64, December , 1976) was written, figures on recent wage contract: n the mines had not yet been officially revealed. Because of this, there is some inaccuracy in the table which appeared on page 33, since the wage rate column was compiled from newspaper reports. Receipt of the full version of the miners' contract shows that the picture is even more extreme than as presented in the article. The starting wage for the lowest-grade workers, which was cited in the table as an example of the operation of the new pay scales, has not been increased at all, but will remain at 64.50 kwacha. Further, the agreement will last for three years, not two. Thus, the picture of the effects of likely increases in the cost of living on wage rates (assuming continuation of the 1975 annual inflation rate of 15%) works out as follows:
